Belle
Isle Castle offers guests luxurious Country House Accommodation on one of
the eleven islands that are owned by the Estate on Upper Lough Erne. A bridge
connects the island to the mainland. There are 470 acres in this magical
Estate which includes a 90 cow dairy herd. The original Castle was built
in 1680 and further extended in 1850. It has had three owners during its
noted history which includes the present owner, the Duke of Abercorn.
The Castle has been kept in its original layout so that guests will enjoy the romance of a bygone era. Expect authentic Country House atmosphere and accommodation without the frills of modern restorations. Antique furniture and paintings by Victorian masters are all offset beautifully by the dramatic colour scheme created by esteemed international interior designer, David Hicks. The collection also includes some striking Russian paintings from St. Petersburg.
Self Catering at Belle Isle Estate
Every self-catering apartment within the Courtyard has its own character and style with some suitable for use by disabled visitors, another having a children's loft and sleeping options ranging from singles to those large enough for six people. There are also 3 Self Catering Cottages available to rent on the estate. Each has a unique charm and offers guests the same superb standards of accommodation. Bridge House has its own mooring for small boats and enjoys an unparalleled vantage point from which to fish or simply enjoy the views across the lakeland landscape. Tucked into the gentle hillside on the other side of the water stands Bridge Cottage, a three-bedroom modern bungalow which also enjoys magnificent views of Lough Erne and offers close proximity to purpose-built fishing stands. Sheltering under the trees of Derryharney wood and set within a wonderful country garden lies Glen Cottage, a charming traditional dwelling attached to an Estate house with two bedrooms and a log-burning fire. Anglers can enjoy direct access to excellent private fishing pegs and everyone can delight in the peace and tranquillity of the cottage's location.
