Loughcrew House & Gardens
|
|
Generations of the Naper family have been creating Loughcrew Gardens since
1660. The result is a stunning garden comprising water, trees, vistas and
archaeology rather than flowerbeds. A host of enchanting features are displayed
in a setting steeped in atmosphere and history: the prehistoric Loughcrew
Cairns crown nearby hills; and within the gardens stand a mediæval
moote and St. Oliver Plunkett's family church and Tower House.
Bed & Breakfast Accommodation is provided at Loughcrew House in a delightful converted conservatory. Set in a magnificent parkland landscape, beside Loughcrew Historic Gardens and the prehistoric Loughcrew Cairns, guests can enjoy the fine furniture & paintings, log fires & fresh flowers which create a warm and friendly atmosphere. Loughcrew Garden Opera is one of the most popular Garden Operas in Ireland, held each year in the historic Loughcrew Gardens in Co Meath - guests can picnic in the grounds or wine and dine in marquees
Self Catering The Groom's Lodge lies at the centre of the old Loughcrew estate, in a magnificent parkland setting under the Loughcrew Cairns. Designed by Charles Cockrell in the 1820s and built in ashlar limestone, the house has its own entrance, parking and gardens. The well-equipped accommodation comprises three double rooms, living room, large kitchen, hall, two bathrooms, office, utility areas, with central heating and log fires throughout. Children and dogs are welcome. The Studio Flat also lies at the centre of the old Loughcrew estate. Designed by Charles Cockrell in the 1820's as part of an elaborate laundry, and built in ashlar limestone, the flat has its own entrance, parking and gardens.
